Enable only on a trusted LAN. Save and restart ProxyCat to apply this setting or a new proxy port. The management dashboard stays on this computer.
Changes take effect after restarting ProxyCat. Currently applies to HTTP requests; HTTPS CONNECT traffic connects directly.
Use an iPhone, iPad or Android device on the same trusted network as this computer.
Checking the proxy connection…
iPhone / iPad: Settings → Wi-Fi → ⓘ on your network → Configure Proxy → Manual.
Android: edit your connected Wi-Fi network → Advanced options → Proxy → Manual. Menu names vary by manufacturer.
Enter the host and port, leave authentication off, then save. Keep ProxyCat running.
After saving the proxy, type this exact HTTP address into Safari on iPhone/iPad or your Android browser:
The phone page downloads your public CA and guides installation. Compare its SHA-256 fingerprint with this one before installing:
iPhone / iPad: install the downloaded profile in Settings, then enable full trust in General → About → Certificate Trust Settings.
Android: search Settings for Install a certificate → CA certificate, then select the downloaded file. Some apps do not trust user-installed CAs.
On the phone page, choose Check HTTPS connection. It opens https://proxycat.test/verify. A successful check without a certificate warning confirms that browser trusts this CA. Do not bypass a warning.
Then browse a site and look for its requests in ProxyCat. The setup pages themselves are not added to your capture.
Can’t connect? Check the selected address, guest Wi-Fi isolation and the computer firewall’s inbound proxy port rule. VPN or Private Relay settings can affect routing. The management dashboard stays on this computer.
When finished: set the phone’s Wi-Fi proxy to Off / None before closing ProxyCat. Remove its CA/profile when no longer needed. Disable Allow remote clients and restart ProxyCat to return to local-only capture.
